Roadside Food Stands in the Berkshires?

I'll be traveling through the Berkshires and parts of New York over the coming days and hope to be in the Berkshires for at least a couple of meals. I'd love to find an old-fashioned roadside joint somewhere in the Berkshires if possible. I'd be looking for a place that has hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, etc., and hopefully some outdoor seating. Any thoughts?

There's a nice BBQ place on Route 7 in Great Barrington- Route 7 Grill- that has really good local food and outdoor seating. It has gotten some great press and the menu is on line. We had a wonderful take out meal from there last year when my family was visiting. My meat eating family members loved the ribs, especially. They have local corn on the cob, and lots of daily specials. The atmosphere is nothing too exciting, but it's very clean and the staff is very friendly. Check out their web site.

Not in the Berkshires, but could be on the way: Tom's Long Dogs on route 5/10 in Whately, Mass. Best dogs around (here, that is).

I had considered Tom's, and may indeed hit it on Sunday if I have time. I was in the Berkshires earlier today and couldn't find much along the way, ending up in Albany of all places at Heavenly Hot Dogs (on the rather funky and quirky Lark Street). It was ok--just a typical greasy spoon with decent dogs and so-so burgers.

This place just opened and I think the burger is swell, though it is brand new it strives to be old fashioned

Just after I posted a reply on this thread, I noticed this post. Great Barrington may work better than Whately, I think. I may try this place on Sunday; if so, I'll report back on it. Thanks!
