Ventura Area - Fine Dining Lunch [moved from CA board]

Looking for a nice lunch in the ventura area. Seafood is good. We'll be there Friday and Saturday. While looking through previous posts, I thought that Jonathan's looked good but they don't serve lunch.

I went to brophy brothers seeing the frequent references here, and honestly, I was very disappointed. It was not bad, but I didn't feel like it's chow worthy. I had calamari and sea bass. Didn't like the calamari too much - a bit too soft for my taste. The bass was ok, nothing exeptional. The worst was the rice pilaf that came with the fish, it had absolutely no flavor. Maybe I just went there on a bad day - new years eve. But this is definitely not a place I will recommend. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the rec! I called them and their lunch menu on Fridays consists of mostly sandwiches. :(

If you have time for a glass of wine and snack, stop by Zoey's on Main near California in the afternoon and sit on the patio. It is such a lovely spot to relax.

I also love a drink at Eric Erickson's on the pier at sunset.

Thanks! I'll keep Zoey's in mind for next time. I looked at their menu and it's a little too casual for my guests (not american), only sandwiches, pizzas and salads. We're looking for more of a full menu.

I recommend Tutti's on Main & Palm. Also, there's Cafe Fiore on California & Main. Then there's always the old standby of Pierpont Inn; plus it's such a nice setting! Also, if you're willing to make the trek north to Ojai, I can't recommend the Ranch House strongly enough. The setting is incredible & the French-influenced food is procured from local growers as much as possible. Both the Pierpont & the Ranch House are local institutions known for their food & environs.

Let's face it, though. Ventura isn't known for it's fine dining...& that's one of the things we love about it!

            Tutti's off Main
            34 N. Palm St.

            Cafe Fiore
            66 California St.

            Austens at Pierpont Inn
            550 Sanjon Rd.

            The Ranch House
            500 W. Lomita Ave.

I just realized that The Ranch House doesn't serve lunch, only brunch on Sundays. I will look into the others.

Brophy Brothers has been in Santa Barbara for a long time and opened up in Ventura Harbor a few years back.

What would you recommend eating there? My guests are very particular and don't like over-cooked fish.
