Chocolate cake @ Ottolenghi, Islington, London

A fairly pleasant chocolate flavour, overall, a soft medum dense cake with a centre of creamy ganache smoothened over with something alcoholic (rum?). Quite light on the whole the choc flavour decent but not exceptional. Felt like I was on a diet when comparing this to the dense, rich and indulgent fudgey chocolate brownie at Cocomaya, buoyant on a wave of salt.

  1. I had a sample or two of the chocolate cake made by Paul bakery at their London Bridge station concession. I assume they have them in all their shops. It was, IMHO, very chocolately and a bit like a dense mousse Very moreish which is why I didn't need to buy a piece!
