What is the best place for Italian in South Philly. Can be low end or high end and either byob or liquor license. I just want some good italian!

We like Scanniccios, at Broad and Porter, as do may of the South Philly-ites I work with. Reservations recommended. One of my husband's goals in life is to work his way through the entire menu.

I used to like Scanniccios. Last two times we were there it was "off". Not terrible, but not the way it used to be either. Very subtle--and more the atmoshphere than the food. I can't remember the details, something stupid having to do with splitting a check perhaps, but at the time I resolved not to go back.

L'Angolo is very good, I also like Mr. Martino's Trattoria, on E Passyunk between Morris and Tasker.

l'Angelo at 1415 West Porter Street. Byob and great food!
