Great Cuban Sandwich at Vega's Cafe - Orlando

I just returned from Vega's Cafe located on Colonial Drive in Orlando. By way of background, I am neither a big fan of yellow mustard or pickles, but given the limited offerings at a place that specializes in Cuban sandwiches, I was left with little to no choice. I am glad I resisted any urge to order the sandwich sans mustard or pickles and left my sandwich in the expert hands of the proprietor and his assistant.

About 10 minutes after ordering (the establishment was packed full of construction workers, lawyers, police officers and other guests from all walks of life), I was presented with a Cuban sandwich, cut lengthwise, revealing each layer of gooey indulgence beneath.

Each layer, which includes roast pork, ham, mustard, butter and pickles, was in perfect harmony. Honestly, no one ingredient overpowered any other. It was all held in place by the crisp bread.

I recommend adding this place to anyone looking for "authentic" or cheap eats in / around Orlando.

  1. From this website, it looks like they are only open for lunch. I'll definitely put it on my to do list.

    1. and dont forget to bring cash... last time i was there (about 8 months ago) they did not accept cards

      1. Went today for lunch, I tasted the cuban but preferred the churi sandwich (added some peppers for a little spice). $5.75 for a sandwich.
