Road Food from Toronto to Sarnia

Are there any good places off the 401/402 and/or backroads where we can stop off at and grab a quick bite? Nothing fancy, just good, divey places. (Wish we had a website like http://www.roadfood.com/ for Canada!)

And if not, is there anything in Sarnia that's worth checking out?

Actually, we're off this weekend on a road trip to Thunder Bay so are looking for the same - recommendations that don't include Swiss Chalet or Tim's for decent food along the route. Will do a round trip through Sarnia and Sioux Ste. Marie one way and Hwy 17 through Timmins the other. Any recommendations?

In Sarnia, there is a family owned Greek Diner (John's Restaurant) on London Line (off the 402). Homemade food, great breakfasts. They pack them in but the line moves quickly and it is a large place. Is your ending stop Sarnia?

No, my final destination isn't Sarnia, but we often make a stop in the city to refuel before the next leg of our trip :) Thanks for the suggestions!

Look for lakeside fish and chips. Under the Blue Water bridge.

Being a Sarnia-boy, I haven't had a chance to try out Purdy's Fisheries yet, but everybody back home raves about it to no end.

They have a fresh fish fry with chips under the Bridge.

          Address:
          Purdy’s Fish Market
          1 Riverfront Road
          (South of the Casino)
          Point Edward, ON

Besides that there's not much else in Sarnia besides chains etc. John's isn't bad for a greasy spoon, I used to like Sicily Restaurant growing up but its been years since I've been there.
This is a great time to pick fresh fruits and vegetables from Macklin's Farm which is on Lakeshore Rd just before Bright's Grove.

For sure, Purdy's fish and chips. By the casino (same entrance just keep driving past the actual entrance to casino parking) and locals love it.

Thanks! Will definitely keep these in mind. Grabbing some fresh produce from Macklin's Farm idea is great.. we'll try to stop by on our way back.

Fries under the Bridge at one of the chip trucks, lots of malt vinegar is a must too. There is a small, locally owned resto called New Trish In.(downtown)130 Davis Street

On Fridays, the man makes gyros handmade pitas. They go quickly and sell out at lunch. He also makes really good greek burgers with spinach and has the greek lemon potatoes. Open for lunch, not supper.

Well for me anyway to go to Sarnia I take the QEW to the 403 to 401 than 402 which is a little faster when coming from downtown. Just off of the 403 in Hamilton is Weil's Of Westdale Bakery which has the most amazing éclairs Ive ever had, I always stop for some on my way through and I suggest you check it out.
