best cajun or creole while wearing shorts

My friend and I were invited on a last minute fishing trip leaving out of Venice. We will be in NO, Venice, and possibly Baton Rouge. Our problem is we don't know how much time we will have at each place. We would like recommendations for places that serve the tastiest examples of Cajun or Creole staples without having to adhere to a dress code. Two recommendations for each city would be greatly appreciated.

We got the call yesterday and we're leaving tomorrow, so I don't have a lot of time to search.

TIA.

If you are staying at the Woodlands, Foster can have the kitchen cook your catch. The food there is very good, and they cater to fishing groups so shorts are no prob.

I was at One Restaurant and Lounge (in NOLA) recently and spied many guys in shorts.

New Orleans, Cochon for an all appetizer lunch. Bozos in Metairie for an oyster po boy or Parkway in midcity for any other poboy.

New Orleans - Parkway Bakery or Parasol's for a poboy and Mandina's or Liuzza's by the Track for real food.

Have only been to venice once post-k and that was right after the storm. No recs down that way, unfortunately.

Good luck. Ya'll going offshore or in? We smoked the tuna 125 miles S. of Fourchon weekend before last. Should be good fishing either way. Have fun.

Offshore. We'll be diving for them.

Thanks to all for the recs.

I second the recommendation of the Chimes in Baton Rouge. It's one of the few places I'm comfortable eating oysters on the half shell. BTW, oysters are 30 cents each from 4-7 every day and all day on Tuesday.

Hard question but I would say Domilise's for a poboy and Acme for some chargrilled oysters. Acme is unbelievably touristy and the threat of a line should encourage you to go early, but they do their oysters well and you can show up in shorts. Domilise's does poboys right and would also fit the time constraint/dress code. While this might not hit cajun/creole staples, I think you will enjoy.

Baton Rouge is chock full of excellent restaurants. The Chimes on Coursey Blvd. Parrains on Perkins Road (same owners), just about any restaurant in town in the summer shorts are okay. Our restaurants rival New Orleans. Hope you get to eat here.
