Anyone know which stores carry this chocolate covered honeycomb bar? I think it's made in Australia. It comes in a bar and a slab. Delicious!

I notice them all the time now.

I've seen them at Newsroom Cafe in West Hollywood. We even have them in the little sandwich shop in our office building.

I've found they are only good if really fresh. Now if we could only find someone who carried Cherry Ripes, we'd never have to go back to Oz.

Bay Cities Deli carry them in Santa Monica as do the three English shops, Wilshire and 15th; Second street and Santa Monica Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd between Ocean and Second. As well, yes, they are now popping up everywhere. Cherry Ripes are available from the LAOutback shop in Laguna Beach. (who also run a website)

Cost Plus has a wide variety of very good and unusual candies. Be careful, though, as the turnover is not high on many items. If there's any dust on any of the wrappers in the box, move along.

Also very noteworthy at Cost Plus: Peach Buds. Peachy hard candy that get me through the "gotta have a sweet snack" episodes at work.

Thank you for the suggestions. I tried Bay Cities Deli today and the buyer said they've been out for a couple of months because as soon as they get them in, people buy them by the box and clean them out. She took my number and will call me as soon as they arrive, probably the first of next week. Great service and apparently a hot item. I used to get them at the car wash on Westwood and Santa Monica Blvds. but they stopped carrying them so I stopped washing my car there.

Roger,

I was inspired by your posting and bought myself a Violet Crumble today at the UCLA North Campus student store. It hit the spot with my afternoon tea.

If you really need a fix, you might consider UCLA as a place to buy some. The candy is absolutely fresh and has a reasonable rate of turnover. But I don't think most students are aware of the joys of the Violet Crumble experience and instead opt for more conventional bars, leaving the Violet Crumbles to those of us in the know.

Any student store at UCLA carries Violet Crumbles. I often buy one for a study break. If you like Violet Crumbles, you also will probably like Cadbury Crunchy -also chocolate covered honeycomb but longer and thinner with slightly higher proportion of chocolate to honeycomb.

Sorrento's also carries these (just finished one).

In Culver City on Sepulveda, a couple of hundred meters south of the Pavillions shopping center.
