Piatto Grill Yorktown

Has anyone tried this place? I believe that it used to be Mirragios. Love to hear some feedback.

Anybody who says "You will not be disappointed" can be considered to be family of the owners, if not the owners themselves. How can anybody say such a thing to a readership of strangers?
We need facts, not marketing reviews with over-the-top promises.

      C'mon. We're not dummies.

My husband and I went to Piatto Grill on Saturday, Oct.12th. We wqaited about 1/2 hour at the bar for seating, which wasnt bad. We finally were seated and our waiter came to our table, introduced himself and handed us the menu. We ordered our apps and he left. We waited quite a while for our appetizers, which were brought by busboys, I think. Our waiter, Nick, was nowhere to be found and never came back to see how we were doing. He finally came back, asked if we were ready to place our dinner order. I asked him how a certain pasta dish was prepared and with what sauce. He replied,"I have no idea" as the gum in his mouth was all over the place. He said he would check with his manager. He came back about 15 minutes later and tol dme it was made with a cream sauce. We finished our apps, waited for our table to be cleared, "Nick" was nowhere to be found. He finally came back and asked if we were ready for dessert
I told him that we hadnt even had our dinner yet! He said, "They havent brought it to you yet?" No!. Ten more minutes went by, my husband's dinner came, not mine. It arrived 5 minutes later and lo and behold, it didnt come in a cream sauce, it came in a broth. Th busboy informed me that this is the way it is prepared, not in a cream sauce. Waiter came back 10 mins later. I told him about the pasta and he said sorry and he would check with his manager. HE didnt take the pasta away. Ten more minutes go by, manage came and asked what was wrong, I told him. He asked if I wanted something else. I told him I had waited too long and didnt want anything else. He left the pasta ther also. Finally the waiter comes back and asks me if I would like the pasta wrapped up to go. I told him I dont want it and I'm not paying for it. And, as I listened to the people behind me, I heard them complaining because their dinner was being served and they hadnt even gotten their appetizers yet. We left a 5 dollar tip and left. THis place has mediocre food with pretty much the same menu and nothing to write home about. I say skip it. The staff is not trained properly, and the management either. We wont go back.

It's funny...I posted my question in July and I have still not yet gone. I guess the buzz around town isnt that great. My friend did eat there but sat at the bar where the service is much better than what they provide in the dining room. She said the food was just "good". Thanks for the detailed post. Doesnt look like i'll be going anytime soon.

I just went on Friday night (March 2009) and they had an incredible deal, you get a 4 course meal for $19,95. They offer this every night except Saturday, not sure for how long though. We had a salad, pasta, entee and dessert. The portions were not huge but there was enough food to fill me up. I had the Romana gorgonzola salad, the penne vodka, salmon dijonase and blueberry pie, everything was very good, though I wish they would change up their dessert part, I'm not a big pie eater, would be nice if they would offer sorbet or something lighter. They made a very good lemon drop martini but of course the bar bill can really jack the price up. But all in all it was a very postive experience for a very good price. Will be back again.

Mid-September (2008) we sampled Piatto and found it disappointing on almost every level.

Our foursome was seated with indifference. The Maitre d' guiding us to our table, stopped repeatedly to chat with staff and conduct business with waiters, leaving us standing like fence posts in the middle of the room before we reminded him that we were currently abandoned guests. After we were seated the service was indifferent with waiters leaning across the table, and when not being able to use this shortcut, handing heavy platters to their recipients as if we were all part of his job.

We waited endlessly for every item and when the Maitre d' breezed by (once) asking if everything was alright, he never waited for an answer, returning to chat with wait staff about other customer's apparent problems.

The food was unremarkable and obviously not memorable because I can not recall that part of the experience, only the terrible 90 minutes of slow unctuous service.

When the check arrived, we paid and ran for the door, wishing there was a good desert place to attend so we could try to restore the evening's culinary/social combination.

        Sadly,

        ---JP
