Fat Tony's Pizza - Germantown
I just got a hanger on my door for Fat Tony's Pizza, a subdivision of Cafe Mileto. Authentic New York style pizza. Anyone hear anything about this? They have some great sounding pies: Spinach Ricotta, one with yellow tomato, basil, pesto and goat cheese, another with eggplant and buffalo mozzarella.
I've been to Cafe Mileto many times, but actually never have ordered a pizza. There is no address, just a phone number, 301-515-4884.
I see you posted this some time ago but in case you are still wondering, we really love their pizzas; they're the best you'll find for delivery around here and likely better than most in the upper part of the County. Free delivery and two for one pies? Great deal, too.

We like Fat Tony's too. MUCH better than the pizza they serve at Mileto. The 2 for 1 deal is great. We get the margharita and the mushroom. Just be sure to specify well done--the time we didn't we found it to be a bit soggy.

Fat Tony's pizza is definitely the best delivery in the area. I would give it four stars except that they are not consistent. When the pizza is good, the dough is light and floury, slightly crispy, just chewy enough, and not oversalted or overgreased; the cheese is true mozzarella (again, not greasy), and the sauce is not overworked (it tastes like -- tomatoes!). I would say that at its best, it's somewhere between New York style and Italian brick-oven style pizza. But inexplicably, we have received something different on occasion, either undercooked as another poster complained, or pizza with inferior cheese and sauce. That said, even "bad" Fat Tony's is better than any other pizza I've tried in the greater DC area.
