Flushing Chinese Banquet

I am looking to book a fairlyl small (40 person) chinese banquet in October. My family keeps mentioning Flushing as a possible inexpensive target location. When I research Flushing I get alot of info about dim sum and hot pots and none about inexpensive and/or successful banquets. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not precluding Manhattan or any other local near mass transit.

    1. Congee Village in Manhattan has several banquet rooms in varying sizes. I remember thinking prices were reasonable.

If I go to Congee Village, what dishes would you recommend I sample? Obviously its namesake.......Thanks

Sorry, don't remember particular dishes. But the menu and food were good and the decor was more attractive than typical for Chinese restaurants.

rklimpl, are you giving up on the flushing locations? I recall there were plenty of great recs out there (gala manor, jade, ocean jewels, etc.); my only problem with congee village (the one on allen street and delancey) is I always get an MSG headache, and the food is very rough.

hi there. We arent giving up on flushing. I am just trying to investigate places near mass transit that offer good value and great food. I will be going to flushing this am to try out jade or ocean jewels and then again on Tuesday pm. It seems difficult to evaluate a restaurant for a banquet when I go to sample dim sum. That is why I was asking about places and what to order. I'll keep you up to date and when the party happens I'll be happy to write a review with photos. Any new thoughts?
