Scottsdale-Where can I find good chicken?

This is probably a long shot...but my dad has declared that he's sick of all of the restaurants he's been to in Scottsdale because most of the dishes involve lots of carbs and fats. He really wants to find a place that has good meat, specifically white meat chicken, that isn't drowning in butter or coated in sauce or served atop a bed of pasta. I've suggested places that have chicken atop of salads, but I think he just craves big "manly" servings of meat. He hates black pepper, and most places that he's been (we've lived here a longgg time, so a lot of places), if they meet the other criteria, they're coated in pepper.

I suggested Mack Daddy's, since they're a relatively healthy spot, but it's way too far from here to be a regular place. The other place I thought of is Rio Sabor, the Brazilian place near Oregano's, but that's the only other place that I could think of that's big on meats served solo. He's tried Fitness Cafe, and thought it was only so-so. Has anyone found a place in Scottsdale that serves good, healthy white meat chicken or even steak? I know this is going to be a hard one...any responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Rio Sabor closed. So did Val's Brazilian in Goodyear. She's hoping to reopen somewhere around Tempe/Chandler next year. - - - Lar

Also, its not quite Scottsdale but starting on the first Saturday of October Vincent's market returns. For the last several years he has had a whole roasted chicken that is out of this world (not to mention a bargain at $10 with fries and veggies).

Bandera might be what your dad is looking for. Their " clam to fame" is the "Bandera" style roasted chicken. It is owned by the same group that owns Houston's. It's been a few yeats since I have been but it was always very good. Located south of Indian School and Scottsdale Rd. You can check out their menu online....

Rancho Pinot Grill does a terrific Roast Half Chicken that's amazing as well as their Nonni's Chicken which is a pure comfort meal!

Cafe Pino @ Mayo Blvd and Scottsdale Rd...also does a great rotisserie Half Chicken!

Bourbon steak @ the Fairmont Scottsdale does an amazing Whole roast Chicken.....

I was going to suggest Bandera, too. I love everything there. Although, at least for me anyway, I couldn't stay away if I was trying to avoid carbs b/c I think they make the best cornbread around.

I forgot to mention in the post that that's currently the only place my dad likes to go to (Bandera, that is)! Thank you so much for all of the suggestions so far, keep 'em coming! I'll report back on the other suggestions once we try them.
