Italian restaurant near(ish) Avenue A/Houston

In 2006, my boyfriend and I went to a fab Italian restaurant near Avenue A/Houston. This is one of those classic "If I heard the name, I'd remember it" posts.

The restaurant was just barely north of Houston...it may have been on 1st or 2nd Ave...my memory is fuzzy.

It served pizza, along with other things, and had a few rooms. It seemed to be a local-type place. I think that it may have been slightly below ground level (although not much).

I had an anchovy/garlic concoction; it was memorable.

Anyway: I've searched everywhere but given that I can't remember the name of the place, I'm not really getting anywhere!

Anyone have any ideas?

  1. Supper or Lil' Frankies (same owner) fit both of those descriptions. Supper definitely has a downstairs room(s). Frank (also the same owner) is the third option.

Oh, great, thanks--I think it was lil' Frankies. The name didn't ring a bell, but the pictures on the website did. Wonderful! Thanks so much!
