Breakfast/Brunch in Austin

Hi y'all,

I'm visiting my BFF and her husband and kids in Austin. They're newish to the area and don't get out much, but are total chowhounds and open to anything.

We're dropping the kids off at camp next Thursday and Friday and we're looking for great places for breakfast and/or brunch. Nothing really fancy, just a great place that we can hang for a few hours a linger over a great meal. Ideally, we'd dig a place where we can get a mimosa or a bloody mary, but that's not completely required. Something cute, maybe with outside seating (or not considering it's so hot).

We just like catching up over a meal, sharing and exploring new places. They live in S. Austin, but we're willing to travel for a great spot.

Dinner suggestions are welcome, too. Are there any great BYOBs in Austin?

Thanks so much in advance!

  1. yet again, i'd go with moonshine. they have pitchers of brunch drinks.

    1. If you are in south Austin you might want to try Maria's Taco Express for brunch or Austin Java on Barton Springs. Both are very fun and relaxed. A little further north on Mopac there is a great place called Chez Zee.
