Most websites say that Allard is closed Sunday, but a couple say that it is open. Does anyone know for sure? We will be in Paris in October.

More to the point why are you thinking of going there? It has a poor reputation and is quite a tourist trap with poor food.

It was obvious the locals who were eating there didn't think it was touristy.

PhilD, I am curious with such an authorative statement, when is the last time you personally had a meal at Allard? Allard does attract lots of tourists and diners are crowded/wedged into seats; servers are not exactly welcoming. But having said that, several meals over the past 18 months, the food has been very good. So if you are willing to put up with the other stuff, the food is worth going for based upon my visits.

A few years ago, although I used to pass it fairly frequently after that. Maybe it has changed. Reason for the authoritative statement - IMO lots of far better places and as Chowhound is a resource for good food I called it out. Your experience/tastes are probably different to mine, and it is always good to get a spread of opinions.
