Knife sharpening in Raleigh

I used to know many places to get my knives sharpened when I lived in Chapel Hill, but now that I've moved to Raleigh I haven't found anyplace. Suggestions? Inside the beltline preferred (I live in Boylan Heights). Thanks!

Inside the beltline, I had my knives sharpened at Capital City Grocery one Saturday afternoon, by Terry Bozon. I have his flier here in front of me. His phone is 919-779-5129 and e-mail is isharpenit@yahoo.com. He does clipper blades ($5-6), knives ($1.75-3.75) and scissors ($4-5).

He was to be in Cap City Groc. one Saturday per month, but alas I forget which Saturday!

Hope this helps. He did a good job and, as you can see, his prices are very reasonable.

I took all my knives to Becks in Cary just last week. Prices seemed reasonable ( I think I paid $22 for 7 knives) and I am very happy with the results. When I called he told me if I brought the knives in on Saturday morning, he'd have them back to me the same day. That's why I brought all of them in and we killed time at the Farmer's Market and goofing around in Raleigh. All in all, a very good experience. Becks is on 64 in McGregor Village.

Last year someone posted about a shop in Cary (IIRC) that sold good quality knives and also sharpened. When I later tried to look up the posting it had been deleted (some of the post delved into support of independent/local businesses). Hopefully they will repost, as it was the only referral I've seen for the area!

Here is the old thread. http://www.chowhound.com/topics/395088

Beck's Cutlery in McGregor Village seems to be the place you want but you're gonna have to get outside the beltline.

That is the place! Thanks - I never could find the info from the post I remembered, but the details of this thread sound like the place.
