Brunch recs - prefereably w village

A friend of mine is coming in from LA today and wants to get brunch tomorrow, thinking of hitting somewhere in the west village or maybe even meatpacking (pastis or something), any good recs? my friend has never been here before and i figured that area would be a good area to see

What about little owl or perilla for brunch? Small cozy places that sort of represent the causal neighborhood part of NYC.

Unless you want upscale restaurants. Perry St. will do the trick.

yeah i thought about little owl...we'll see if i can get a table or not though, i have the worst luck when it comes to getting a table at little owl w/o a serious wait haha

how's the brunch at perilla? ive had dinner there (and liked it), but never thought of the brunch

        Hi Lau,

I think the brunch there was ok, though I won't pick any of the more generic choices like omelette or pancakes because they were really not that different from what you could get at other places. Their duck burger was quite good. Selection was quite small for brunch, and dinner was definitely better, but it was not a bad choice in the neighborhood.

Other thought just came to mind - The spotted pig. Probably more unique choices.

Ditto. I've never had trouble getting a table for brunch at either Little Owl or Perilla. Another good choice in the neighborhood is Blue Ribbon Bakery, but it's definitely more popular for brunch than Little Owl or Perilla. Pastis is a good choice but definitely less cozy...Oh, and I also like Morandi if you want to stay more in the WV. It's in a great location.
