Pork Shop News.....Please read if you are planning a trip this weekend (Queen Creek, AZ)

aztami Jul 25, 2008 01:01 PM

I stopped in this morning around 10am and the "pickins' are VERY slim". If you were planning a trip tomorrow (I doubt they will even open Sunday, they will be pretty much sold out of everything by close of business Saturday) you might want to think twice.
They have been having a big sale the last 2 weeks in anticipation of their summer vacation and it has wiped them out.

Sorry for the bad news but I think those of you driving 100+ miles round trip would be disappointed. I know I was :( They reopen August 27 @ 8am.

Not sure how far I would be driving, since you fail to mention where this establishment is.

Thanks for the update. I wish we hadn't kept postponing our trip; it looks like I'll be waiting until September.....

thanks for the good/bad news. :-)

tastyjon and I had decided to call off the planned field trip due to lack of wider interest. now that decision seems particularly wise.

        place link for jtc...

I called in my order tonight. They had the Chops, Short Ribs, Brats, Pepperoni and Ham I was looking for. The place is unreal. By far the best pork I have ever eaten. Make the trip in September. You won't regret it. If you are really in need and don't want to wait call in your order and they may still be able to take care of you.

Thanks for the tip, BP. Now that you mention it, calling in the order ahead of time seems like a prudent strategy, even when it isn't the day before their summer vacation. I'd hate drive the 45+ miles down there just to find out they were out of something I was specifically looking for.

Heck, even when I make my monthly 2-mile trip to the Berkeley farmer's market for my goodies from The Fatted Calf, I place an advance order to make sure I get the things I want. :-)

they're really good about phone orders. With only two of us I like things packed for the freezer in small quantities(usually in twos actually)...and they're always willing to wrap everything for me however I want it: 2 lbs of green chile brats wrapped by 2s, 20 loin chops wrapped in twos, 3 lbs regular bacon wrapped in 1/2 lbs, 3 ham hocks split in half and wrapped individually, etc. That way also I don't take up a bunch of their time when I get there...just show up load my cooler and be out of their way.

Aztami - is the sale noticeably less expensive than their regular prices? (which I find to be quite fair). If so, will have to mark the calendar for next summer...

Thanks for the heads up. Rationing for the next month.
