Dinner date recs near Bloor/Yonge

  • 4

I've a date tonight with a lady I've just recently begun dating. We plan to meet at Yonge/Bloor, then probably start walking west on Bloor until we find somewhere suitable to eat. We're on a somewhat limited budget (<$60, including tax and tip), we're not wine drinkers so the cellar is of no importance. Somewhere casual, any kind of cuisine is fine, good food and cold beer is what we're after. So, TO chows, what sage advice can you give me?

  1. check out Wish....
i think it's on charles street....romantic, good food, well priced.
i would make a reservation though.

    1. I don't know if I should suggest this or not, but here goes...

Depending on the "ease" of your relationship and what sort of atmosphere you are looking for, I would recommend Rebel House

Ok - hear me out before you shoot it down. It has a nice patio, it is relaxed/casual, reasonable price

Mr. Cheeze and I had a date at a pub (not Rebel) early in our dating relationship, and it was so genuine, uncontrived and didn't try too hard to be romantic or date-y. I realize it depends on the lady you are with as well

      Have fun!

      1. I think the rec for Rebel House is a good one (although you wouldn't be walking west from yonge).

If you can get a spot on the patio, Fire on the East Side is a nice place (again not west of yonge).

If you are both adventurous eaters and Ethiopian is an option, you can eat at Ethiopian House on Irwin (south of Bloor, west side of Yonge). It's not the best Ethiopian in the city, but it's decent and you get to eat with your hands.

Bar Mercurio and L'Espresso Bar Mercurio are both decent options (and you are west).

By the Way Cafe is a cute little place with a nice patio. Food is not out of this world, but it's good.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! As I was too rushed to find out where Rebel House and the other places are, we walked way west to Ossington and the always reliable Mexitaco. My friend liked it a lot so it was a success.
