Anyone know of a good Middle Eastern grocery store in the DC area? I'm looking for chickpea flour and my local Whole Foods doesn't carry it.

You could try the store at the Lebanese butcher (call first), they have a good amount of groceries. I believe there is also a small Middle Eastern Grocery on Wilson Blvd right past Clarendon in the Virginia Square area.

Gotcha covered. There are actually quite a few.

My favorite is Mediterranean Gourmet Market on Franconia Road. But that's because I like their food.

The Mediterranean Bakery in Alexandria on Pickett is the most extensive and the most expensive.

The Lebanese Taverna Market is in Arlington, off Glebe and Lee Highway.

The Lebanese Butcher is in Falls Church. I love the food there too.

On the "other side' in Wheaton, MD there is a small, but excellent middle eastern market on University Blvd., right off of Viers Mill. I can't remember the name, but it is on the same block with Cristina's restaurant if you want to search it. Maybe someone on this board will know.

          Montgomery co.
Wheaton,Rockville&Silver Spring never had a problem with freshness at any
store I've been to,the Mynah would know.

Yas grocery, and Assal Market, both in Vienna, VA off Rte. 123. Excellent selection at both.

I'll add The Gourmet Basket in McLean to your growing list. Don't let the misleading store name fool you. It's definitely a Middle Eastern grocery/prepared food place.

If you're on the Maryland side, Thomas Middle Eastern Market in Wheaton (2650 University Blvd) is metro accessible. There is also supposed to be an amazing Persian grocery in Rockville but I've never been.

Are there any in DC proper, specifically in NW. I'm also looking for Chickpea flour and need a place in DC by a Metro.

The one you're thinking of is Thomas Market, on University Blvd between Veirs Mill and Georgia (across from Nick's diner). Lots of good stuff there!

I'm not thinking of any particular one. I was seeking advice for one. Is this near a Metro? Is there one around Dupont/downtown/Cleveland/Van Ness/Etc area?

Thomas Market is a short walk from Wheaton metro. Exit metro and walk up Veirs Mill; turn right onto University Blvd. Call to see if they have what you need: Thomas Market, 2650 University Blvd. 301-942-0839.

The butcher over at the bailey's crossroad is great that I think has been mentioned already.
