Quirky, summery, fun outdoor bar

I'm thinking about having a Thursday night birthday party in Manhattan. I'm looking for something different, quirky, fun..I need a hook!

I've done Waikiki Wallys (last year, there was no a/c...it really was like being in Hawaii!), Otto's Shrunken Head, Ninja, etc.

I want something a little goofy, with an outdoor option or something with really good drinks that's only slightly kitschy. Personal favorites as far as themes are: Elvis, tiki, 1950s kitsch, diners, anything dreamlike, funny, or extreme (too divey? good! too slick? possibly good!)

I don't go out as much as I used to so I'm not as up on what's going on.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Maybe Yuka on Ave A? The food is south american (salsas, great yuka fries) and very tasty. The inside has some kitch, with diner-style booths. And the drinks people have outside for happy hour look like a lot of fun. Definitely a good thursday night spot.
