Thanksgiving in North Oregon Coast

Hi,
My husband and I are taking our first trip to the Pacific Northwest this Thanksgiving and plan on being somewhere along the Northern coast on Thanksgiving night. Any suggestions for a good restaurant that might be open that evening anywhere in that area?? We are staying in Portland and plan to spend the day driving along the coast taking in the sites (since most things will likely be closed that day) and would like to end the day with a nice dinner somewhere along the coast before heading back into Portland.

We don't require a "traditional" thanksgiving meal and prefer to avoid anything super formal or touristy.

Thanks!!

    1. I think you have your work cut out for you. It will be difficult finding anything decent open on the coast on Thanksgiving. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach. Because it's a hotel / Inn, there is a chance the dining room may be doing something that night.Have you considered just driving back into Portland that evening? Your options will improve ten-fold. Traffic on Thanksgiving evening will be non-existant so getting back to Portland would take maybe a little more than an hour; well worth it for a decent meal in my opinion.

        1. The Stephanie do what they do so very well. I'd certainly put a call into them. The Chef there does some very nice food on a very consistent basis. The place may be full of tourists but that's neither here nor there, the food is very NW and on point.

            1. I think I spent a Thanksgiving weekend in the North Coast two weeks ago. Man was it cold!

We had some great chowhound recs for Mex and Italian.

                1. Give a call to Fulio's, in Astoria and ask Peter Roscoe, the chef/proprietor for advice. Who knows? he might even step-up for you...

                    1. I live part time in Cannon Beach and spent last Thanksgiving there. I can assure you there are several good restaurants open, but I would recommend reservations. You might try Newman's 988, or the Wayfarer. Be sure to dress warmly!

                        1. And oh yeah, you can find a great listing of restaurants at "www.cannon-beach.net". Have fun!

                            1. The Nehalem River Inn does Thanksgiving dinner from 3-7pm. It's a prix fix dinner, 3 courses. Normally sells out. They take reservations starting pretty early on. Definately your best bet by far.
