I'm looking for a BBQ catering place that will do a pig roast (whole pig) for a party at my house. Anyone know a place that would do that?

Thanks!

There is a restaurant on Garvey and Del Mar. I don't know the English name. They have a deli section where people order Chinese BBQ. You can order a whole roasted pig, there are different sizes.

Lots of Chinese BBQ places (of the Sam Woo variety) can do this, at least with advance notice. Also, the BBQ places that sit next to the Bangluck Markets/Sanamluang in Hollywood, Sherman Way, etc.. I have done this a few times but not in years, so I can't give more definite up-to-date information, sorry.

And the Chinese BBQ places inside the Chinese supermarkets will do it too, or order it for you. Up here in northern California I heard of prices from $4.25 to $4.75 per pound, depending on whether you want the pig cut up or not.

I recommended this place because I've had the roasted baby pig here and thought it was really good, better than Sam Woo.

I'd try giving Roast to Go a call. They've been doing the hog thing since 1952, and they're known for their way with pork (carnitas, hog maw, chicharron, morcilla, spare ribs, etc.) They're in Grand Central Market downtown. Give them a call . . .

Cuban places also roast pigs, called lechon. I have had the one from El Cochinito on Sunset at a party. Pretty good.

Hawaian and Philipino places also roast whole pigs.
