Cheese Fries - Baltimore
Way back when I was an undergrad at College Park I used to get the most incredible cheese fries from the Santa Fe Cafe. I was wondering first for recommendations of the best cheese fries in Baltimore and second if anyone knew of fries that were like the ones at the Fe. Thanks.

i know it's not fries, per se, but how great is the recent return of the tater tot?! ale mary's does it best, they offer Cheesey Tots (3 cheeses), Sloppy Tots (3 cheeses & Sloppy Joe), and Loaded Tots (3 cheeses, bacon, ranch dressing). Crazy Lil's also does a good job, offering "Chesapeake Tots $10 golden barrels of deliciousness topped with house crab dip and cheddar jack cheese". Their menu also features cheese fries but i've never indulged. Hope this helps!

I'm glad I saw this post. I'm from New Orleans and one late night bar F&M's has the best cheese fries of all time. Big waffle cut fries with lots of melted cheddar cheese (no whiz) and then can get any topping you would get on a loaded baked potato. Oooh just talking about them makes me crave them.
Hopefully someone posts where to find cheese fries like those on this thread.

re: Wangus
Chik-fil-a has had waffle fries for a very long time. Quite tasty and properly fried. I've never had a greasy one.

Didn't Arby's used to have waffle fries? And some nasty cheese sauce?

re: monkeyrotica
Arby's had these spicy curly fries that I used to LOVE when I was a kid. Don't remember waffle fries. kelarry is right that they are pretty scarce around here! I can't think off hand of one non-chain place that serves them. Then again, I don't know the last time I ate a french fry, so I'm hardly the most knowledgeable about the topic.

I used to frequent the Oy Vey Cafe back in the day, never even tried the cheese fries. We always got nachos. What made them distinctive?
Dunno how their cheese fries are but I had some kickass gravy fries at Werner's on Redwood downtown. Old skool diner vibe. Hot crisp fries and gravy that definitely did not come out of a jar.
