hee hee! You made me laugh out loud!
That is a 'ham'. A large pork product.
Jonathon Byrd's isn't dreadful... the fried chicken isn't terrible.
It's a cafeteria.
If you're looking for a cafeteria with good fried chicken, try Gray Brothers in Mooresville.
But if you're really looking for fried chicken - try Hollyhock Hill or the Iron Skillet.
mmmmmmm

To answer your question, Danimal, YES J.B. is, although edible, terrible. So many people around here base there opinions totally for nostalgia reasons. If they would taste the pie and look at what they pay...this place is a rip-off. Gray Bro. is definitely better, but I think cafeteria food these days leave a stream-line taste in my mouth.

thanks for the replies. They are catering an event that I'm going to, and my co-workers said the food was great, which I immediately doubted. In my experience, catered food is always much worse than what is served on-site. But, its free, oh well.
