Upcoming URL change information

  • 5

We want to tell you about a forthcoming change in our URL. It needn't affect how you get to Chowhound, but you may notice something different in the address bar.

To simplify our third-party audits of traffic, we’re planning to change the official Chowhound URL to chowhound.chow.com on or around August 1st. If you go to chowhound.com, you’ll be automatically redirected. This has no effect on the content or the function of Chowhound; we’re still the same gathering-place for the food-obsessed that we always were.

This will not affect the independence or identity of Chowhound. As always, Chowhound continues to operate as an unbridled (though moderated -- we're sticklers about staying on topic) forum for the food-obsessed to gather and trade information on all things delicious.

  1. For those of us who have links to your site on our sites, would you prefer that we change them to point to the new URL, or isn't it a big deal? Will the auto redirect continue indefinitely, or will you eventually end it sometime down the road?

If it's not trouble for you to change your links to reflect the new URL that would be great. But the redirects are indeed permanent.

Will do. (I don't think there are many.) Thanks for getting back to me!

    2. You should have some pages on chowhound.com and others on chow.com because that will boost your Alexa rank... at least I think it will.

      1. that's it....the difference.

now it's all about the numbers.
