Helene de Champlain - OK, mediocre, or revolting ?

johnnyboy Jul 23, 2008 07:15 AM

Has anyone been to Helene de Champlain recently ? I have tickets to the fireworks tonight, and it would be a convenient place to have pre-show dinner. I've never heard good things about the resto, and their website is useless (all you see is an unmoveable picture of Pierre Marcotte, not one sign of the menu). Because of the convenience, I'd settle for something OK or even mediocre, but if it's really laughably bad I'd like to know. Any ideas ?

Haven't been since last summer, but it was pretty awful then. The locale is great though, especially for fireworks. I'd have a glass at the bar and then wander outside ---pack a snack? :)

Ate there last fall, beautiful place to dine, but the food is pretty bad. It used to be one of my favourites but not any more, haven't returned.

Heck, it was so bad 20 years ago, I've refused to return since!!! Bring a nice hamper picnic instead?
