giving Hoegaarden in the bottle another chance...
Don't get me wrong - I adore Hoegaarden on draft. In fact, with sushi I consider it a magical experience. But a few months ago I was elated to find a four-pack in the local grocery store and poured one with dinner that night. It tasted like a completely different beer! I was as heartbroken as one can legitimately be over a beverage .
I've since been told that I should have rolled the bottle first, and I have looked at the instructions on the Weinstephan website referenced on another thread here at CH, about the almost horizontal pour and the final yeast rinse.
Cross your fingers! Any last tips?

I was tempted to buy a 12 pack the other day when I saw a huge stack them for about $13. Its been at least 6-7 years since I last had one. Reports from long time lovers of this beer suggests that Inbev has not treated it well over the last few years. My homebrewed wit came out pretty good with Indian coriander in it, so it may be quite some time before I am tempted again.
When I was drinking it, I would make sure to get all the yeast stirred up and in my glass which seemed to give it an additional softness. Roll away, or swirl and dump. If its still boring, add a slice of lemon or orange.

If its well made and intersting, it shouldn't need the fruit garnish. But we are talking about a mass produced Inbev product here. ;-)
I'm not against anyone adding anything to their beer that they think will enhanced the experience for them - after they try it how it was intended first.

well, I am happy to report that poured correctly, it comes close to itself on tap - it could have been the lack of sushi that made it not go the final distance. I guess I'm glad I never had the real thing before Inbev took it over!
DH is out of town this week, so I will be going back for another 4-pack and a large sushi combo from the gas station (really, they have a sushi chef!)
