Berkeley picnic food

I will be hosting a picnic in a Berkeley park for 30-35 people, and need ideas for where to place orders about 5 days ahead of time(I am from out of state). We will pick up the food the day of the picnic, it is to celebrate a wedding, it is for lunch with a variety of ages, and we would like cold food, breads, cheeses, sliced turkey, prepared salads, and cupcakes among other things. We lean toward organic and local food, simple is fine. Thank you very much. I can call ahead of time for the cupcakes, or have a local relative place the order if earlier is better. Thanks again. 1. Rick and Ann's

Most Safeway's have great sandwiches and salads

My first thoughts are AG Ferrari (on Solano) w/La Farine (almost across the street) for the cupkakes.

The Andronico's Markets on both University and Solano are as good as the Andronico's on Shattuck. The best one is the one that's most convenient for you to get to. And they have most all of what you're looking for, including baked goods and sweets.

Andronico's has a catering service that would make it easy to place your order in advance. Look here:

or visit their home page. (You can order many items at their deli counters which are not listed on their catering menu, but you can easily add them on to your order. And pick them all up at once.)

Andronico's Shattuck has made to order sandwiches, premade "cubanos , "muffalettas", many salads, a decent cheese section, fried chicken and all pricey. On the same block is the Cheese Board for breads, cheese and vegetarian pizza.
If the park is Tilden you can fire up a grill and warm the pizza if necessary. Masse's down the block make beautiful pastries.

Before deciding to use the grill, check if it is a high fire danger or red flag day. When we have hot weather/windy dry weather no open fires allowed.

We in the Oakland Hills really don't like open fires anytime.

"We in the Oakland Hills really don't like open fires anytime."

              bit of an understatement, no?

I lived across the bay, but have known many people affected by several.

        2. Safeway actually has pretty good sandwiches but the presentation isn't so nice. Andronico's is more upscale. Masse's pastries are lovely. Very nice would be Cheese Board baguettes/cheese rolls/other rolls with a selection of cheeses and cold cuts from Andronico's to make your own sandwiches. Depends on how much you want to spend. If you call, everyone will be helpful, I bet. Except maybe Safeway.

Thanks so much for all the ideas. More ideas are also welcome. Don't worry about the fires, everything will be cold, although I now live out of state, I was born and raised in Ca and understand the danger well. Thanks again, Upnorth
