Still having problems, plus a new one

I am now having difficulty accessing my "My Chow" page. Often, my first attempt to access it is met with an "oops" message, telling me that the page is not working and suggesting I visit the Chow homepage. Then, on the second of third try, the page will pop up.
I am also still experiencing issues 2 through 6, as described in Jacquilynne's most recent post (June 27) summarizing our current site problems.
Do we have any idea why the site has become so user-unfriendly in the past couple of months and why it is taking so long to fix?
Thank you to all those working to address these issues.

  1. AGGGHHHHH!!! The problems keep on mounting. Many times, I just get a blank screen when I click on something. I'm also having a lot of problems posting as well. I know that you guys have been having issues for a while, but it seems like it's more than usual.

Having been cooped up at home for the past few days with an injury, this is my only outlet to remain sane!!!!! : )

Ah, yes, the blank screen. Another recent development. Sorry about your injury. Not too bad, I hope.

Thanks vvvv. Unfortunately, it seems that I'll be out of commission for quite some time, which means a lot of take-out (or DH cooking for me all the time).

ETA: I meant to say "delivery" instead of "take-out."

I tried to send you my Get Well message but the board kept sending it back to me.... I can't even edit my previous post to change the word "thread" to "Post". Oh well...
I hope your recovery is speedier than you think!

          1. re: Gio

Thank you so much, Gio! Yes, I'm hoping that I'll be on my feet again soon! : )

Grrrr! Did this have to happen during the summer?

          2. re: Miss Needle

Sorry to hear that. Chin up, it'll get better :) My leg has been in an air cast for 7 weeks and counting... it's still very annoying to get around (especially in this heat) but the pain part is over!

            1. re: vvvindaloo

Yes, the heat makes it more unbearable. I did the brilliant thing of trying to walk home from the dr's yesterday on crutches -- a literal 5 minute walk turned into 50 minutes -- and I was too damn stubborn to get a cab, telling myself that I could do it! I've learned my lesson.

I hope you get better as well! : )

        2. re: Miss Needle

The blank screen is a new one for me plus all the others that VVVindaloo mentioned in her thread....I beginning to sound like a royal class whiner.

        3. The problems have only gotten worse, it seems. Now I am regularly logged out of the system due to some sort of HTTP 406 error. Attempts to log back in do not always work. New posts do not show up in threads unless I wait a significant period before I check up on them. MyChow gets oops messages. Pages take forever to load.

          1. I'm seeing those white pages too. Two tips - it seems faster to refresh a thread, rather than a post, so I remove the post number and then refresh. The other one is - on threads where there is a reply, but you can't see it yet - to read it, click on the user name, then the "activity" link on the my chow page. You can read the post right away. And, I have found that if I then click on that post from there, I get taken to the thread and can read it, even though when I've clicked on the thread from elsewhere it doesn't show up yet.

            1. re: MMRuth

just tried the work-around you suggested MMR-- worked great thanks! you site-savvy hounds are so smart.

then when i tried to come back and reply to you it wouldn't let me for 5 mins or so. the site is really in shambles lately and it's hard to follow along with any discussion when you need to reload the page 10 times and then sort thru 100+ posts to find one new post that collapsed before you could see it. thanks for the hard work by the techs, please try to fix! :(

Ha! I just tried to reply to you and couldn't get the "reply" button to budge!
Thanks for the suggestion- I, too, have been finding "backdoors" for viewing people's posts.
