Happy Hours provide Steals and Deals for North Lake Tahoe Dining (Long)

  • 9

I always remember a few restaurants offering Happy Hours but this year's trip to the Lake has noticed a widespread trend in half price food and drink offerings. It's a fun option for saving bucks while trying the Lake's best! I can only hope this is not just a summer activity but will be offered year-round.

Last night we went to Fiamma in Tahoe City. We sat at the bar to find 1/2 doz oysters for $9, Ceasar salad for $5, Ahi Carpaccio $9, 1/2 price wine by the glass and other additions like bb ribs and daily pizza and pasta offerings. These are great prices for LT and the food, as usual from Fiamma, was great. You must be sitting at the bar between 5:30-6:30 to take advantage.

This listing of Happy Hours was originally printed by Tahoe World who lists the options by days but I think most HH are offered daily or at least each weekday. I wish I could to try them all!!:

  1. What a great list. We will take advantage as we frequently find ourselves in Truckee. One note...OB's Pub & restaurant in downtown Truckee has closed. No doubt a victim of the economy coupled with marginal food.

    1. Excellent. We live at the lake so I'm going to forward to all our friends here. Thanks.

      1. One hitch.........

Went to Jake's (on a Tues. no less) and was told "oh, no....we don't have HH here during the summer!"

        Bummer..........

Stayed anyway. Most of the app. items were deep fried but OK. Nothing special at full price. Do like the restaurant though.

didn't make happy hour at 50-50 but the brews were quite good with very acceptable bar fare.

          1. re: keena

Are any of these places within walking or short cab ride from Hyatt where we are staying in mid February?

            1. re: SAnativegirl

If you are staying at the Hyatt at Incline Village then the answer is no especially for 50/50 which is in Truckee. Jakes in Tahoe City is slightly closer but not worth an expensive cab ride. Also, cabs are not as plentiful on the north side of the lake as they are other places.

              1. re: SAnativegirl

Right across the street from the Hyatt is Austin's. I don't know that they have "specials" but we love their food. Really big salads, the best fries, on and on. Also in IV (a short cab ride) is Mesquite Broiler (am I getting the name right?) It's Mexican, stand in line and get your food, eat in or take out. It's great!

                1. re: c oliver

Are you thinking of T's, on the corner of 28 and Village, next to the movie theatre and 7-11? If so, they do have good chicken, burritos, and tri-tip. Cash only and they close at 8, I believe.

                  1. re: RevrendAndy

Yes, that's the name. Thanks. We've only had lunch there but it's really good - and not so expensive as some Tahoe/IV places are.
