New butcher in New Rochelle?

Anyone heard anything about the new butcher/food store opening in New Rochelle?

  1. My apologies in advance for any vagueness here, but I don't live in New Rochelle. However, I was a passenger in a car there recently that passed by the new store's location, which triggered a little mini-discussion.

For starters, it's in the shopping center right at the entrance to Bonnie Crest (the one behind the kosher strip on North Ave) There is already an awning up (don't remember the name) and there is a help sign in the window. Supposedly it is being opened by the Chap-A-Nosh folks out in the 5 Towns (which may be true given the 516 number on the help wanted sign) and will provide the same services as the 5 Towns store. I don't remember seeing any details posted in the window about when the place would actually open, though.

I'm sure there were more details tossed about in the car at that time, but that's all I remember.

    2. Well, I'm also looking (in vain) for info about the place. What I do know is It is called New Roc Glatt, it is on Quaker Ridge Road in Wykagyl, New Rochelle (pronounced wack-a-gill). I do belive the owner has at least one other place in 5 Towns. I saw the guy in synagogue and overheard his conversation as he was standing fairly close to me. I've heard the place is nice from someone who was there breifly (yes, it is open). It has deli, and take-out. That's all I know.

Th owner is Rabbi Tzvi Flaum's (Formerly of the White Shul) son . he didn't own a place in the 5 towns, I think he worked for Chap-a-nash or similar place

      2. We bought some food for this past Shabbos. The food was very good.

What exciting news for those of us in Lower Fairfield County. Does anyone have a phone #, address, or e-mail address for New Roc Glatt? Will I be able to replace trips to the 5 towns here? Thanks for any info.

        2. recently opened, clean, nice store. plenty of fresh meat, fish, a nice sized deli counter with many prepared foods. definitely a solid option in westchester

          1. Under whose hashgacha is the store?

I haven't been there yet myself, but after searching around online and calling them, their address is 77 Quaker Ridge Road in New Rochelle, and their phone number is (914) 636-2600.

              2. New Rochelle Glatt Gourmet Kosher Foodmarket is located at 77 Quaker Ridge Rd., New Rochelle, NY 10804. Tel. 914-636-2600 or Fax 914-636-2441. Their website is <www.NewRocGlatt.com>. They are supervised by the Vaad of Queens.

I went to the store last week to purchase meat and other items for Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah meals. I bought one of the prepared cauliflower kugels and it was lighter, less dense, and less salty than similar kugels at Supersol, my usual kosher supermarket.

By appearances and helpfulness of the staff, this should be an excellent addition to the
north end of New Rochelle. It is close to the Hutchinson River Parkway and accessed by either the North Ave., New Rochelle or Weaver St., Scarsdale exits, as well as I-95.

The only complaint I have heard so far is that they don't have early enough hours to shop either before work or right after morning services. If they hear the complaints, I think they
will adjust to suit the customers. Chag sameach.

It is in the spot that was formerly Boston Market..right near the Harmon drug store.

                2. Bumping the thread to say I'm really enjoying this place. In a tough economy for a new business, I hope they make it.
