My Place in La Puente...good authentic tacos
After our fiasco at Iguana Ranas (see another post), we went looking for food. We went west on Valley and noticed a taco truck alongside the road on Workman Mill Road. Perfect.
We walk up and the taco truck is empty. Huh? Does Iguana Ranas own the taco truck?
No. As it turns out, the taco truck is more of a come-on for MyPlace, a tiny hole in the wall at
129 Workman Mill Road. There are a few chairs at the counter inside, plus some outside seating.
Inside, the basics. Small corn tortillas. A grill. Meat. Lots of meat. Cabeza. Chorizo. Lengua. The stuff you want. It even had something I hadn't tried before. I can't remember the name (lots of letters), but basically it seemed to be wet, breaded skin (but that's a guess). I didn't really like it (I'm sure it's an aquired taste), but everything else was great.
Certainly not worth a special trip from far away, but if you're in the neighborhood on a Sunday night when everything is closed, this is a lifesaver!
