Heading up to the Keewenaw Mountain lodge for a stay the first week of september, and am looking for reccomendations for good places to eat in the Keewenaw/Houghton/Hancock/Ontonagon area of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Thanks in advance.

Harbor Haus in Copper Harbor is better than it has any right to be. German cuisine with good fish, as you might expect. Since the closing of the Deutschen Eck in Frankenmuth, it's arguably the best German restaurant in the state. Not exactly cheap, but worth the money.

There's a little Finnish home cooking breakfast and lunch place in Houghton (not Hancock). I believe it's called the Suomi Home Bakery. It's on one of the side streets downtown, under one of the big snow roofs, as I recall.

Not a restaurant, but don't miss the Jampot on M-26 in Eagle River.

Just got back from a Lake Superior circle tour on motorcyles and had a fantastic breakfast in Houghton. It's on 26 just south going up the hill on the right and it's called Hillside Resturant. I had the sausage eggs benedict with sausage gravy over it and it was awesome. Everyone else in our group loved what the had, biscuits and gravy, omelets, home fries all were excellent. It's a small place and not sure if they are open for dinner but breakfast rocked.
