Would love some restaurant and bakery recomendations near and in New Buffalo, Michigan please...heading there soon for a week. Thank you!
going for a week, huh? Two recs for you. Not Mom/pop, or haute, but might fit the bill on one occasion for you:
Grand Mere on Red Arrow Highway.
Steak/rib supper club overlooking a bluff. Lots of wood, stiff drinks, Choice steaks, jello ribs. Chopped liver comes with the bread baskets. you get the drift.
Four Winds casino. I was extremely surprised at how good the 25 (ish) dollar buffet was. And I mean EXTREMELY surprised. I was forced to go here with five others when we went on a fishing trip. I was very skeptical. VERY. I'll be going back. Standouts: prime rib, bbq brisket, grilled fish (right when it comes out,) Desserts, and there is so much more. The d/c's who were familiar with the area casino buffets all agreed that 4 winds blew every chicago area casino buffet away hands down - no contest. Other recs from lit 3 hap:
Redamak's is a big, busy hamburger place that is a New Buffalo institution - you should go for a burger. Brewsters is a cute little Italian place close to the water off the main drag. It's small so you call for reservations. Skip's is a little outside of New Buffalo proper I think and sort of old school, but the blackened (you have to ask) prime rib is delish!
I'll vote for Red Arrow Roadhouse, in Union Pier. Sounds like and looks like a roadhouse but the food is of a higher caliber. Definitely worth a stop.
For breakfast or lunch I'd say Viola Cafe, east a little ways, in Three Oaks. Again, a little storefront place, but excellent food and atmosphere.
Also, check out the Midwest board- there's alot of posts on the area there.
well you might enjoy the Rios taco stand west on US 12.A new restaurant just opened near Oink's ,The Happy Bhudda Noodle Shop.I have enjoyed it.Skips for prime rib,Stop 50 pizza in Michiana Shores for wood fired pizza,Brewsters for italian food,Bentwood restaurant in the Marina Grand Hotel where the food is good and the view is nice with a drink outside. The Willowbrook cafe at the casino if you don't want the buffet thing or the expense of the Copper Rock Steakhouse which is also very good.Pierre Anne creperie if you are into that sort of meal. There are no "can't miss" places just places to get some decent meals and enjoy the area.
Try a nice country drive to Buchanan, MI - just north - to Tabor Hill winery and restaurant. A lovely place with a beautiful view of the vineyards. They aren't open everyday - so check out their website: www.taborhill.com. They have some friendly wines which taste great while watching a Lake Michigan sunset!
