The Best Authentic San Antonio food

I'm looking for food that really captures the essence of San Antonio...including Tex-Mex and Mex...things like gorditas, tamales, menudo, nopales, puffy tacos. What do you think of as authentic San Antonio food? Names of hole-in-the-wall places are welcome.

"Authentic San Antonio" is tough to peg. Strong Mexican and Military influences make SA particularily diverse. Here's two Latin influenced greats.
Check out La Playa on West Ave. for Tamales wrapped in bannana leaves, as well a Honduran and Salvadoran goodies. El Mirador on S St Mary's is very good as well for Mole and fresh corn tortillas.
