Lunch specials in Jackson Heights?
I will be around the neighborhood this summer and am looking for good lunch specials to take advantage of. So far I've tried Upi Jaya (which, despite the purported lunch special on the menu, doesn't seem to actually have one), Arunee, Afghan Kebab House (still a bit pricey), Rice Avenue (liked the pineapple fried rice a lot), and am addicted to Coatzingo's cemitas. What else should I be trying?
Don't miss the Lunch Special at Nanking, 72-23 37th Ave. Lots of choices: Chinese & Thai on one side of the lunch menu (34 choices) Mughlai on the other side (20 choices) Lunch is $6.95. Excellent Service, Atmosphere & Food. I'm also a loyal fan of THAI SON Vietnamese at 40-10 74th St. Very Good PHO prices under $6.00. I always order PHO BO KHO. You can also order Vietnamese Sandwich for a mere $3.50. Attentive service and they serve complimentary tea. I haven't been pleased with Deshi Biryani for lunch. Zabb Thai (70th & Roosevelt) just introduced a $6.25 lunch special.
deshi biryani on 37th has a terrific 5.99 lunch special -- one of my favorite places. american chicken, also on 37th (78/79) has a 5.99 half chicken with two sides. i like the cold sides, esp the cabbage salad and chckpeas. not a lunch special per se, but a couple of really good gujarati vegetarian indian options at rabjhog @ 37th/73rd. two dishes plus bread plus pickle for five bucks on the low end. i think rice ave -- not my favorite thai, but not bad -- has a special as well. roosevelt/;72nd.
