Tides, the seafood "shack" on Norfolk St., serves delicious food in a teensy, cozy space with sleek modern decor and a very unique ceiling.

Epicerie Cafe Charbon, on Orchard St., serves well-prepared French bistro cuisine. Pleasant atmospherics with a true Paris bistro feel.

Apizz, The Orchard, Tides, Azul Bistro

Apizz, with its exposed brick walls, has a rustic, earthiness that is very romantic, if that's the route you're looking for.

Inoteca. They don't take reservations but you can sit, chat and nibble at the bar while you wait for a table. Great wine and food. Menu is in Italian but the waiter explains everything.
If you enjoy French, Cafe Charbon is another one of my favorites in the LES.
Good luck.
