Ethiopian Food in Reno????

danceremix Jul 18, 2008 10:41 AM

I am from Reno, but have been living in Seattle for the last few years. I go home to Reno often to eat at Betos, get some all you can eat sushi and oh yeah...visit my family. I heard that there is an ethiopian restaurant in Reno now. There are 30 of them up here in Seattle, so I eat a lot of it and I was wondering if the place in Reno is any good? I'll be in town next weekend and will probably give it a shot if I hear it is up to par. Any thoughts?

I've been there three times now and have found it to be consistently good. It is somewhat pricy for the quantity of food, and the service can be slowish, but the food is delicious. It wouldn't stand out in Seattle or in D.C., but in Reno it's a minor jewel.

I ate there when I was in town and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely not like some of the restaurants up here, but Seattle has an Ethiopian population and Reno doesn't really. I had the kitfo and I thought it was great. The green beans were the most popular on the table getting gobbled up by all of the children at the table.

My wife and I were pretty underwhelmed (both big Ethiopian food fans). In fairness, we were there a day after they opened and haven't been back since, so they may have still been working out the kinks during our visit.

I did hear a positive review from a friend who ate there a couple of months ago.
