Covent Garden night markets 2008

Just a heads up that the Covent Garden night market is back on every Thurs & Fri in August, starting on the 7th. It's basically a night time farmers' market with live demos from chefs at 7pm on the Friday nights.

Did anyone go last year, and if so what did you think of it?

Is Willie Harcoute-Cooze the guy who was on TV with the story of how he makes chocolate after growing his own beans? If not, that chap had a fawncy name, too. :-)

That's the fellow: Willy's wanky chocolate factory.... and Venezuela Black.

We went to the Night Market on Thursday and they have moved it to the Piazza side where the street "entertainers" are and unfortunatley it meant that you had to jostle past the throngs of tourists standing watching mimes etc and it got a bit irritating after a few minutes - we ended up buying a few cupcakes from Violet (Which were really nice, apart from the salted caramel) and went for dinner in a nearby restaurant. The thought of fighting for space with the tourists drove me away I have to say. I will be going back to see Willie Harcourt-Cooze and Fergus Henderson and hopefully this time they wont have sectioned all the entertainer viewers right next to the stalls!!!
