City Tavern , Wilmington NC

I was told by a friend of mine to try this place. Has anyone ever tried it and if so what did you think?

The food is overpriced. The quality is not great. Everyone I talk to waits extraordinarily long for their food there. And I can never seem to find a manager to speak to about the wait.I would reccomend trying Mark's on Market or Bouy 31. The food is much better for the same price

I thought it was just alright... not terrible, not great, although the seafood dip appetizer was excellent. (I think that's what it was called!?) Is this a chain restaurant? I am always so disappointed when I shell out a lot of money and get the same ole stuff of OK quality (the veggies seemed microwaved). Oh, and it took almost an hour to recieve our food although we did get an apology from the server. No manager in site.

I really love unique, independent places where the owners are on premise. Any suggestions for those?

PickyDiner, do you mean in Charlotte, or Wilmington? In Wilmington, there are a few threads for some great places - a quick search should turn up the most recent.

        Has anyone had the brunch?

          I would say it is . . . adequate.

Worst Prime Rib I ever had.

We've eaten there a couple of times. It's good, but I think the prices are a little higher than the quality.

There used to be multiple City Taverns here in Charlotte but at least 2 have closed. They are... OK. Would not be my first pick. I honestly can't think of any words other than just average.

I think the ones in Charlotte are pretty bleh. I've been to the ones on East and at Stonecrest. The one on East is better because the overall location is so much better but still not a favorite.
