best crab?

Which restaurants in SF or East bay have the best crab? Can be a dive or a nice restaurant. Want it to be memorable for someone craving crab.

  1. Have you checked out Crustacean? They are well noted for their roast crab and garlic noodles. Quite tasty! However, dungeness crab is really not in season now, so I'm not sure what the prices would be like. You may want to wait until crab is in season again. You can always call the restaurant to check.

True, not in season here but live crabs from elsewhere seen at Ranch 99 El Cerrito, good size, last weekend for $5.99 a pound. Reportedly dish is better at Thanh Long, the mother of creation/Crustacean.

    2. For Asian style (salt-and-pepper or Typhoon Shelter) crab, R & G Lounge and Koi Palace might well be the best. The crab will be fresh, not frozen.

For western style crab, Tadich has very good fried crab legs and great cioppino.
