Fresh mangoes with hot sauce - now that's livin'!

Yesterday when I grabbed lunch at the Rafiqi cart on 6th Avenue and 19th Street, I noticed a new vendor selling sliced mangoes, and she seemed to be putting hot sauce on them. So of course I went straight there this afternoon and ordered on. For $3 you get an entire mango, sliced, and the option of hot sauce, lemon juice and/or salt. I had all three, and it was really good. Add a taco from Great Burrito (23rd and Sixth), and its a great lunch!

  1. Yum! I love mango on a stick. You can also find these ladies around Union Square, towards Broadway, a lot of the time.

      1. Or you can buy mangoes (were 2 for $1.50 at the new Whole Foods in TriBeCa last week) and pour Bajan hot sauce all over them. . .

        1. There in lies the genius of mango chutney, one of the world's greatest concoctions.
