Rasta Ital (Food) in LA?

Lasherdc Jul 17, 2008 12:09 PM

Going out on a limb here, but does anyone know of a Rasta (that is Ital) food outlet in Los Angeles? While LA is international and certainly has an endless amount Hispanic food outlets, I am hoping someone can enlighten me as to where to find Ital food---there has to be a Jamaicaan cooking somewhere in LA County!

You may want to try Naturali Art Market & Jamaican Restaurant at 3426 West Washington. About a year ago, I think I had vegetarian (ie Ital?) Jamican at the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sunday. Not sure if the same vendor is still there, he was an eldery gentleman..
A post with other Jamaican recs-

LaLa: Went there...it was delicious. The cod is definitely an acquired taste (akin to Australians and vegemite), but otherwise tasty.

People's Choice Jamaican. They also have cow cod soup that borders on tasty. But mostly, their jerk chix is grilled over BBQ, and is a fine rendition in LA.

It took you over 4 years to make it to Naturali Art?

There's Kingston Cafe in Pasadena: http://www.menuism.com/restaurants/ki...

Haven't been, but I seem to recall a post from Pleasure Palate about it sometime in the past year.

Here's a 2009 blog post from Pleasure Palate:

However note that Kingston Cafe was on Kitchen Nightmares in 2011:

I didn't see this episode -- I rarely watch KN these days because it seems so scripted -- but you might want to check it out before going.

P.S. I've never been to Kingston Cafe.
