Dining in or Near Eastland, TX
We will be in Eastland the weekend following next and were wondering if anyone could recommend any BBQ, TexMex, chicken fried steak, diner, or any other places to eat.
Our relatives live there, and I am not expecting much. But any tips would be much appreciated. (I know, I know: we could get back in the car and drive back to Forth Worth.)

GregJ....you just missed a fairly good BBQ joint in Eastland (Rafter X ) , as it closed a few months ago . I think Pulidos offers you a decent shot at some fairly good TexMex, and there is a franchise called Chicken Express that does acceptable fried catfish . By the tone of your post , you aren't expecting much , and that's good because there isn't much there . On the plus side , there is a Starbucks in Eastland , in case you need to feed that addiction . Also , there is a hamburger cafe on the square in downtown Eastland and they make a decent burger .
In Strawn , about 25/30 miles east of Eastland , you will find Mary's , and there you will find one of the best chicken fried steaks in TX . It is weird to walk in the place , because everyone in there will have ordered CFS.....you look around and you just can't believe it . It's delicious.
In Cisco , about 20 miles west of Eastland , you will find Beverly's Cafe , and CFS and fried catfish are pretty good .
If you're willinbg to drive farther , then the best food will be found at The Bee Hive , locations are in either Albany or Abilene .
