ice cream in ashland?

I'll be out at Ashland State Park this weekend for a bit, and was wondering if anyone knew
of a nice ice cream stand nearby-ish? Something in the Kimball's kind of model would be
ideal, I think..with some green nearby, maybe picnic tables outside.

(wasn't sure if Ashland was considered in the "Boston Area" or not..we'll see)

Thanks in advance!

Sunshine Farms on the Framingham/Sherborn line is about 10 min. drive. Nice setting.

Good point; how could I forget that one? The ice cream is good and the people are nice. Setting was nicer before they built the condos next to the pond, but hey they're always paving paradise and building something...

Ther is also a brand new Nick's on Rt. 126 after Market Basket, same as the old Natick spot..Ice cream, fried clams etc. Have not been, but have heard positive things.

Went there once. Good scream, but the skeeter beater wasn't working well.

I think the best ice cream in the area is at Black Cow. There are locations in Millis and West Natick. The latter is just a straight shot on 135E from Ashland. There is also Uhlman Farm (?sp) in Westborough. I was last there 10 yrs ago, but it sounds more like the atmosphere the OP is seeking.

I have not been in ages but look up Lloyds diner in framingham, aprox 3 miles from ashland state park. Cool old diner with good ice cream. http://thisisframingham.com/?p=104

Lloyd's is definitely still open and most definitely still worth going to.

6-11? Hmm maybe they stopped doing the icecream part then. Used to be that the windows/addition off to the right as you face it was a ice cream stand.. oh well...

I just found a post of their hours:
              Monday Closed
              Tuesday Closed
              Wednesday Closed
              Thursday 6:00-11:00
              Friday 6:00-11:00
              Saturday 6:00-12:00
              Sunday 6:00-12:00

              Guess its only breakfast now.

On 135 there is Tasty Treat, serving good quality , not home made IC, and good fried food and burgers with a tired mini golf.
There is also a DQ with dirty picnic tables. Further up in Hopkinton, Hop. Drug has a Brighams.
