Oak Bar and Oak Room

I know that it is expensive, but I am interested in the quality of food, and perhaps the overall ambience at the Oak Bar...I understand that you can order from the Oak Room menu and eat in the Oak Bar...Do people do that?

Anything on the dinner menu is available at the bar. I like eating at the bar, the btenders tend to take real good care of you and appreciate the tips.

You have to go see Lucy at the bar! He's a guy, and I think his name is Louis, but everyone calls him Lucy, if you meet him, you'll understand why.

I guess I should add as well that he makes a mean cocktail!

I too love the Oak Bar. Some of the best apps. in the city. Cocktails are the best! They'll serve any dish you want in the bar.

I know you are supposed to be able to eat the bar, but from my experience they generally encourage you to go into the dining room. That's fine with me. It may seem a little stuffy at first, but the staff is really friendly and they seem to have a good sense ofhow to relate to people. I love the tenderloin steak, and the options of different sauces. They also do a great veal chop. On the weekends I've had a kobe beef burger that is quite nice as well as eggs benedict. The bar, however, is my favorite spot, and we always make a stop after dinner for a Moscow Mule -- Enjoy!
