Rehearsal dinner for 40 in/near Tuckahoe, NY

My fiance and I are starting to look for a place to have our rehearsal dinner for about 40 adults. Ideally we would like to stay in the Tuckahoe area. We like the look and feel of Olde Stone Mill, but are hesitant to book because of all the negative reviews. And having been featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, we think a large party there could be disastrous. Has anyone eaten there recently - has it improved at all? We are also looking into Mamma Assunta. Food is good, but lacking on decor. Does anyone else have any other restaurant suggestions in the area?

Try Angelina's. They do a nice party and probably not as expensive as Olde Stone Mill or the Tap House. Probably a nice choice of entrees and dessert. Right near train station as well.

I have actually never been there but have friends who really like JC Fogarty's in Bronxville and I understand they do lots of rehersal dinners there.

And there is something to be said for bacon popcorn making any occaision special!! (I am a fan of the bacon popcorn at Tap Hous. Popped in bacon fat with crumbled bacon sprinkled over it m-m-m)

I live near the Old Stone Mill and my husband and I go there all the time The food is great service wonderful You should call the manager Catherine she does a wonderful party. There was a rehearsal dinner there the other night on the outside patio and everyone was having a good time You really don't want to go to the Tap it good but not for a special night its Bar Food Mamma Assunta Never
        Good Luck

I have to strongly disagree with the above comment that 'the Tap is good but not for a special night it's Bar Food'. The Tap House has three separate sections for dining. For a party of 40, one of the two rooms in the back would be just lovely for a party. The menu is not the same as Rockwells (previous restaurant at this location). The Tap House is a fine restaurant.

You may also want to check out Thomas Stone. The food is excellent. The owner very friendly. It would depend on the ambiance you are looking for if Thomas Stone would be appropriate.

I agree. We just ate at the Tap House and although it did have bar food and sandwiches, it also has very nice entree selection and I really liked the decor and service was good. I think they would throw a really nice rehersal dinner.

I'd bet Il Bacio Trattoria in Bronxville can handle 40 rather well. They are always very busy whenever I'm there and IMO the food is consistently good.

how about the tap house? It's right in Tuckahoe, across from the train station ( the old Rockwell's building). We were there a while ago. They have a new, very good chef, and a lot of space for a party. It's really pretty inside. Good luck!

I ate there in October of last year. The show aired at just about that time, so we got the "after" version of the place. The chocolate truffle cake was good. The NY strip and prime rib were just OK, and the Yorkshire pudding that came along with one of those (I forget which) was, according to my wife, disappointingly cool. The crab cake is to be avoided. Judging from what I saw on the show, given the size of the kitchen and staff, I can't see how they could possibly deal effectively with a group of 40.

An American Bistro, just up the street in Crestwood, is the closest to a match that I can
think of. The only time I was there was for Sunday brunch this last March. The food was perfectly adequate for the occasion, as was the service. Since there happened to be a large party (easily 40 people) in the big room toward the back, I thought they did OK with us. And I'm guessing that the people in that party were being adequately taken care of, as well. Certainly there had been no catastrophe that had dampened their spirits, which seemed quite high.

                Hey Clarissa ,
Not sure if you've found a place yet but you should look into BARCAR in fleetwood. It's new, right next to the train station, they have vallet parking and the food and service was excellent! I was there for a 40th Birthday party, a group of about 20, everyone loved it! They could definitely accommodate a group of 40+
                Good Luck!
