Best Red Sauce Italian

We are traveling to Boston tomorrow (July 17) for my birthday and would like a recommendation for the best Italian Red Sauce Restaurant.

Also any recommendations in the Portland Maine area for great local food for both lunch and dinner.

Yes, Fore St. is good in Portland. For Italian, we also enjoyed Cinqueterra very, very much.

fore street in portland was on the vanguard of locavore cuisine years ago. his cooking, the vibe, and the space are excellent. dinner only, i believe.

A few places I like for this kind of Italian-American food, all in the North End, where the atmosphere tends to help: Massimino's, Pagliuca's, Rabia's. I also like the pizza at the original Pizzeria Regina, and the wood-oven dishes (including pizza) from Antico Forno.

Places serving different styles of Italian food that I prefer: Trattoria Toscana, Carlo's Cucina Italiana, Grotto. On the pricier tip: Benatti, Prezza, Da Vinci, Via Matta.
