I have been tempted to try A Restaurant in Newport Beach. The parking lot is always packed, and it's a pretty tough reservation to get. Nevertheless, the few posts I have read about it (some time ago) is that it's not really special. Has anyone been there recently...and what do you think?

Family went last night. Reports food just OK. Steaks good, Lamb not impressionable. Chicken very good but, all in all ,nothing they would rjush back for. Same with Bloomindales Charlie Palmer. Sapphire in Laguna and Golden Truffle in CM has them all beat for quality food.

I love this place. My wife and I have been about 6 times. I think five times for dinner and once for brunch.

I can't vouch for the steaks, lamb or chicken because I haven't had them. We are big on ordering lots of apps for our dinner.

I can say that they have an terrific Charcuterie (including Iberica Jamon) and cheese selection. Among my favorites dishes are the octopus, roasted bacon, a really terrific spicy yellowfin tuna & eggplant dish and the best chicken liver terrine I have ever had.

The last time I was there they made me a pot of bone marrow served with toast points after I requested it.

I have also had the burger which was oh so good. I am a fan of 25 Degrees burger restaurant in LA, and it is owned by the same people.
